LUNCHTIME
in L.A. ... Sonnetized Season 6 Satire(?): Praising Riley
&Sam's Grown-up-itude
 |
Joss has said Season 6 is about
"growing up" . . . and Marti showed us the
"perfect" fantasy Posted by: forensicpopouri - Mar 20, 2002, 3:01
PM
Like the subway breeze that blew
up Marilyn's skirt another burst of mystical
sewer gas blows up the ever-open nostrils of
forensicpopouri . . .
Against his will, yet
another Shakespearean sonnet drips from
his fingers.
WHEN SAM &
RILEY rose into the air
they left
behind an image to recall
of
demon-fighting .grown-ups with true
flair.
(No Buffy babytalk. And they're both
tall.)
In Sam we saw a woman
with no flaws.
If she missteps, she catches
it with grace.
(Hey, even Willow had to
fake cat claws
to say she "hated her" for
Buffy's "face.")
In happy fantasy she'd
be my wife.
Resourceful, with no
misery in sight.
Sam deals with Buffy-duty
-- risks her life
to save the lives of
others. While a night . . .
. . . of
endless sorrow seems our Buffy's path
and
the whole Scooby gang's. Redo the
math! # # #
Oh gosh!
What had he done?!? The SMG fanclub will rip
out his fingernails... It was the gas. The sewer
gas made him say it. But would they ever
believe him?
NOTE: Yesterday's
equally sewer-gas inspired, but much more
insightful <smile> sonnet may
be sniffed

| Here's a little
dittie:
In five years time On a night
sublime Sam will awake And wish she could
forsake
This life of demon fighting Under
really lousy lighting Black Kevlar has lost it's
appeal She needs to know when's her next
meal
A bath, a home, a kidlet or two These are
the things that she'll want to do "You've changed"
he'll snort "You haven't" she'll retort
And
exposed will be the ups and downs Of which Riley
spoke, so profound

| NOTE: After consulting
with several British folk, I have decided to
disregard everything they said about tea time.
<smile>
I hereby proclaim tea time in
Santa Monica to be 4:00 PM
(Pacific).
