(For
3/21 Tea Time in L.A.) SONNET #3: Saving The Buffyverse with
Buffy Verse
 |
 #3 What Do We Hold
Sacred? Posted by: forensicpopouri - Mar 21, 2002, 2:57
PM
Lacking time to search out
another whiff of mystical sewer gas this
morning, forensicpopouri reluctantly lifts the
left rear corner of his desk and kicks out
a folded piece of paper that he'd stuck there
to keep his work "on the level."
<smile>
He remembers the sheet of
paper well. On it, a sonnet he'd composed
around the time of "Doublemeat Palace" . . . He
begins retyping them into his
laptop:
#3 WHAT DO WE HOLD
SACRED?
I HOPE IT'S FAIR TO SAY
we're not "just fans."
Our "group identity"
does not require
a thoughtless positive
that squelches pans --
won't blindly
"worship" that which is our sire.
Where
Buffy's beauty shines, we praise its
light,
and where a bulb has dimmed,
plead "swap it out."
It's not for
Buffy's honor that we fight
with pointy
language -- yet we are devout . .
.
. . . to what the Vampire Slayer has
aspired.
And should good
Whedon's team forsake their vows
and lose
their cool, clear vision -- become mired
on
paths less beautiful -- we won't be
cows.
A fealty to the highest
quality:
the Buffyverse depends on you and
me.
Clicking
<SUBMIT>, he wanders aimlessly away from his
desk leaving behind a note which reads:
I'LL BE BACK AT TEA
TIME
you
speak

| It's too demanding for
my talents, I'm more of a limerick person. So I wrote
one just for you:
An ancient vampire from
Nantucket Had to carry his fangs in a
bucket. Asked if he could bite If she puts up a
fight, Said "I just hang on tight, then suck
it".

| NOTE: The rhetorical
verse above is in Shakespearean sonnet
form.
NOTE: Being abandoned by the British,
California now claims Tea Time as our own.
Tea Time in L.A. is, by proclamation, 4:00 PM --
Pacific time, obviously.
