TEA TIME BtVS Episode Of The
Day: #7 "ANGEL"
(1) THE
GOOD: BUFFY TURNS
GRAY
THE MOMENT BLACK &
WHITE TURNS INTO GRAY --
when
first-love's face reveals a fright'ning
side,
when unexpected darkness pierces day
--
your pointed clarity cannot abide . .
.
. . . within parameters of Sunday
School.
(BUT NO, that's wrong. Perhaps
that's THE one spot
forgiveness and
redemption's labeled cool.)
Can chosen
slayer's say, "Oh, I forgot . . .
.
. . you drank the blood of thousands in your
past."
How can a sacred duty
overlook
a clear bi-polar judgement, and
recast
each situation -- not "go by the
book?"
The Buffyverse transcended on
that night
the slayer rule of who she has
to fight.
(2) THE BAD: OF
VAMPIRES WITH GUNS
NOW
SOMETIMES WRITERS DO A STUPID THING . .
.
LIKE when they gave vamp Darla
forty-fives
(9 millimeter pistols?).
Let them sing
at high velocity. How many
lives, . . .
. . . pray, tell me, does
a vampire slayer get?
If vampire law
allows them to pack heat --
shot guns, and
Uzi's, Darla's hand-gun set --
how long
before each slayer's just raw
meat?
With wooden stakes and spry fast
flying kicks,
how long before "The Chosen
One's" just "Choice"
ground beef in
well-armed vampires' taco mix?
A dozen
vamps take aim. And then rejoice!
A
missle-toting Buffy's day will come . .
.
But pistol-packing Darla was "plain
dumb."
