A
SONNETIZED SUNDAY SUNNYDALE SERMON INSPIRED BY
BtVS 2.4 INCA MUMMY
GIRL
SACRIFICE
#70-74/154 rhetorical verse in
Shakesperean sonet form
PART
1
(1) ONE SACRIFICIAL PRINCESS doomed
to live
a sentient mummy sealed by
sacred curse
through human history. Could
she forgive
the sacrifice her
people did coerce . . .
. . . from
one so beautiful at just sixteen
by force
of their traditions's cruelty?
Of course
her people had to
educate
its blessed children so
they would concur . . .
. . . when
told they had to pay the price for
all.
BUT THINK, DEAR CHILD, before
you heed that
call.

(2) SOMETIMES
WHAT NATIONS GLORIFYis dumb.
And sometimes
evil slips by in that form.
There may be
good cause for your martyrdom,
BUT you
must judge yourself. Not just conform . . .
.
. . to what the common passion shouts you
must.
You owe your nation more than body
parts.
A citizen is someone you can
trust
to use their brain and soul -- yes, all
their smarts . . .
. . . in judging with
fresh eyes if a request
for sacrifice
makes sense . . . or is insane.
IF
NOT, a nation ceases to be blessed
and "we its
people" will go down the drain.
ASK:
Will my sacrifice raise up our land,
or
bring us down by Satan's hidden
hand?

The sound of
"SATAN" fit's a verse line well.
Though I have no
desire to preach that name
for superhuman evil
straight from hell,
celebrity has weight, and
"he" has fame.
So let us speak of "Satan" as
a code
for how humanity goes off the
track
of grace and beauty, sane civility .
. .
AND FOR A TIME BECOMES A MANIAC . .
.
. . . THAT AMPLIFIES STUPIDITY
until
it reaches common knowledge and
destroys
a generation with a poison ill
of
insane sacrifice and deadly
toys.
THERE ARE true times when lives
must be laid down.
BUT always THINK, before you
don that crown.

OF COURSE, IT
IS THE WORLD in its "wild" state
that brings
these lines of verse across this screen.
A world
that's run amok with murd'rous hate.
And so I
must take care with what I mean.
A sermon
launched against the powerless
deserves no
hearing. And since here I sit
and type these
words in U.S.A. confess
to all the world . . .
our leaders don't know sh*t . . .
. . . about
the suffering of the aching world.
WHERE'S CHRIST
-- who said to love your enemy
and
turn the other cheek -- when WAR's
unfurled?
It's hard to lead . . . but stop the
blasphemy.
To end on that
harsh note may well offend.
But ev'ry faith has
truths we must
defend.
